Excitement is building around Pordenone in northern Italy’s Friuli region. From November 27-29, RIVE is back in its second consecutive year after enormous success in 2017. What exactly is RIVE? It’s an acronym for Rassegna Internazionale Viticoltura Enologia or International Oenology and Viticulture Expo. In this area of Friuli, vineyards are considered an integral part of daily life and a source of pride for its people who have been caring for them since their childhood- a tradition that dates back millenia.
RIVE is an intense, 360 degree journey of oenology with a goal of providing all the necessary training to analyze and develop each aspect of Italian viticulture in order to ensure a solid and prosperous future in Italy and in the world.
Different from similar trade fairs, it focuses on the entire supply chain from cultivation to bottling the finished product and everything in between. It’s a superb showcase for companies, wineries, and winemakers, as well as everyone involved in the sector. RIVE will demonstrate how applying scientific research is essential to protecting crops from risks deriving from climate change while guaranteeing consumer safety.
The expo will also hold a series of conferences and workshops, Enotrend, curated by a scientific committee and chaired by Attilio Scienza, a university lecturer and one of the world’s leading experts in viticulture. Over the course of the 3-day expo, specific topics will be covered such as: sustainable vineyard technologies, energy efficiency and sustainability in the cellar, new frontiers of sustainability, fertilization, production and quality through bio-stimulants, new varieties and the territory- winemakers ask, geneticst responds, perspectives for bio-defense in the vineyard, and much more.
Italy has a major global role in the wine growing and producing sector. RIVE encourages those specializations which are a stepping stone for Italian talent at the international level.
