Its 50th Year!
To: Saturday, March 16, 2019
The 50th edition of Campobasso‘s concert season began Saturday, October 13th. The capital city of the Molise region will offer 22 events dedicated to music from now through March 2019.
Teatro Savoia in Campobasso is home to this musical event which is the cultural symbol of the city. Purchased by the Province of Campobasso in 1993, the theater was the protagonist of a gradual redevelopment project that led to its recent inauguration in 2002. Today it hosts prestigious theatrical and musical seasons.
The new concert season offers highly acclaimed musicians and programs ranging from the Baroque to the Contemporary.
Bemolli Blu, a tribute to Claude Debussy a hundred years after his death, will continue through November. François-Joël Thiollier will be the protagonist of the most representative piano pieces of the composer, and the soprano Lorna Windsor and pianist Antonio Ballista for vocal production. The chamber music of the great French composer is entrusted to the Ars Trio and to Andrea and Enrico Dindo.
As always, there will be young talents and international winners such as Ivan Krpan, just twenty years old and winner of the Busoni Prize, and Filippo Gorini, winner of international competitions such as the Neuhaus of the Moscow Conservatory.
On Sunday November 25th, El Tanguero de Sevilla will dedicate their performance to Rossini, one hundred and fifty years after his death.
The Italian opera meets the passionate rhythms of the Argentine tango, with its immortal arias, duets and symphonies of the great Italian operas that take on a new, vibrant and original color, in the revisiting of Roberto Molinelli, entrusted to the viola soloist by Anna Serova, accompanied by Tango Sonos trio: bandoneon, piano and double bass.
Also scheduled are performances by great orchestras such as the Hungarian Kodaly Philharmonic Debrecen who, together with the young Erica Piccotti, will bring the Concerto for cello and orchestra in A minor po. 129 by Robert Schumann to the stage.
I Musici, under the artistic direction of composer Piero Niro, will help celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the association with a special piece.
The Kyiev Soloists will close out the concert season with the clarinetist Fabrizio Meloni.
An absolute novelty of this edition is the Electronic Music From algorithms to Music with compositions by Nico De Simone. Concert-goers will be able to enjoy this musical experience in a completely different way with new listening parameters.
Jazz lovers will not want to miss Drums Limited, a concert that will feature two drummers- Luca Santaniello and Gregory Hutchinson-accompanied by Joseph Lepore (double bass), Emanuele Cisi (tenor sax), and Andrea Rea (piano).
Many other events will make this 50th edition unique.
Organizing concerts for fifty years is certainly not an easy task, but thanks to its passion for music and tenacity, the Walter De Angelis Friends of Music of Campobasso Association has managed to do so with absolutely amazing results.
