Today we’re going on a discovery of a unique mountain village in Calabria called Serra San Bruno. It’s part of the province of Vibo Valentia which boasts the famous coastal paradise, Tropea. This village of about 7,000 draws tourists to its mountains for many reasons.

The town boasts a beautiful historic center with numerous green spaces where excursions and religious and cultural routes are the order of the day.

The natural beauty of the area and the historic Carthusian Monastery are known throughout the region. This inland Calabrian village has narrow streets, ancient stone buildings, and characteristic small shops.

Each town has its own characteristic dish and its typical products. Serra San Bruno is known as the “city of mushrooms“. They are served in all types of ways from raw to sautéed, marinated, fried, with croutons or filled with ricotta cheese.
