Home » Magical Scilla in Calabria

Scilla is a small town in the province of Reggio Calabria. It is officially one of “the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” as well as a place full of charm and mystique. Let’s find out what to see in Scilla and what its coast has to offer!

What to See and Do

If you’re in search of a charming village complete with flowery balconies, tight alleys, arches and stone houses, then Scilla is your ideal destination. The streets are animated with artisan shops, little restaurants, and characteristic bars. The paths are adorned with beautiful flowers whose colors make the landscape lyrical and unique. On the promontory, you’ll find the Ruffo Castle, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Aeolian Islands and the Sicilian coast. Just a short distance from the historic center, you’ll find the port where local fishing boats are docked. The views from every angle are simply breathtaking!

On the coast, there are several restaurants offering seafood specialties where you can dine on a platform constructed on the sea. Excursions and visits around Chianalea and Scilla are a must! The landscape is spectacular in the summer and very romantic in the winter.

The Beaches of Scilla

Scilla is in the middle of the famous Costa Viola. The beach is close to the train station and the state road, therefore easy to reach. The waterfront enjoys a spectacular view, facing Sicily. You’ll be able to choose from “free” beaches or to use the equipped facilities which also provide football fields and beach volleyball courts. Restaurants, pizzerias and ice cream parlors abound and after sunset, you can take a walk to the port and maybe continue towards the village of Chianalea.
