What You’ll See and Do on the Sunset Tour

Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and the beating heart of this island. It’s spectacular at sunset!

Experienced hiking guides will accompany you on the ascent along the slopes of the volcano in complete safety. You’ll learn about different lava sources as you walk along the lunar-like ground that characterizes the Etna volcano.

During this trekking itinerary, you’ll also see lush forests and breathtaking views while hiking among the ancient craters and the new flows, and exploring volcanic caves, while the guides tell of the mysterious volcanic phenomena of Etna.

The sunset tour is an easy level trekking route and suitable for everyone, including children under 12 and seniors.

You’ll reach the Sapienza Refuge at about 5.00 pm and continue your ascent of the volcano in a Jeep from 2100 meters to 2900 meters, arriving at the top at approximately 17:45.

Once you reach 2900 meters, you’ll have a great view of Catania surrounded by the colors of the sunset.

The descent will be via Jeep as well and the arrival at Rifugio Sapienza is scheduled for 20:30.
